As part of the University’s ongoing series of meetings organised by the Department of Communication and Media in collaboration with relevant departments, the 11th such meeting was held this morning, bringing together His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice-Chancellor, with a group of staff members who have completed five years of service, alongside staff currently holding supervisory roles.

The meeting, held in Lecture Hall (1), was attended by Dr. Nasser bin Musabbah Al-Zidi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Professor Salim bin Hamood Al-Harthi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service. The session was moderated by Joukha bint Ali Al-Maamari, Director of Communication and Media.

The Vice-Chancellor opened the meeting with a speech expressing his appreciation for the dedication of SQU staff across various units. He highlighted a major recent achievement: the University’s advancement by 28 places in the QS World University Rankings 2026, now ranked 334th globally out of 1,503 listed institutions, among more than 8,467 universities worldwide.

His Highness the Vice-Chancellor emphasised that such progress would not have been possible without collective institutional effort and staff commitment. He noted that the University is guided by a clear governance framework and institutional standards based on performance evaluation and work quality, in alignment with the nation’s broader strategic goals.

Several key topics were addressed during the meeting, including the “ejada” institutional excellence system, the enhancement of the SQU website’s digital infrastructure, the promotion of scholarly publishing in peer-reviewed journals, expansion of research grant opportunities, and the development of specialised training programmes. The session also underscored the importance of psychological support for students and the provision of modern sports facilities that meet the aspirations of female students.

The meeting witnessed engaging interaction from the attendees, who shared numerous observations and suggestions, reflecting their awareness and eagerness to contribute meaningfully to the improvement of SQU’s working environment and the enhancement of academic and research output quality.

This meeting forms part of the University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen communication channels with its members, listen to their perspectives and aspirations, and reinforce a culture of excellence and quality in institutional performance.
