SQU Participates in Singapore’s EduData Summit 2025

Sultan Qaboos University took part in the EduData Summit 2025, held in Singapore on 4 - 5 June, represented by Dr. Amira bint Khamis Al-Amri, Assistant Professor in the Department of Operations Management and Business Statistics at the College of Economics and Political Science.

 

The 2025 EduData Summit is an international platform that brings together leading experts in the field of educational data, including academics, strategists, data scientists, and information systems managers. The aim is to explore the latest developments in data analytics, AI, and performance analysis, and their application to education and institutional development within higher education institutions.

 

This year’s summit focused on deepening understanding of data systems in education, linking data analysis to strategic planning, and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning through the integration of data into the daily practices of academic institutions. Key topics discussed during the sessions included: “Skills as the New Currency of University Excellence”, “Smart Student Employability”, and “New Ways of Teaching and Learning”.

 

The conference opened with a plenary session featuring several distinguished figures, including His Excellency Nikesh Mehta, the British High Commissioner to Singapore, Dr. Paul Thurman from Columbia University, as well as speakers from globally renowned institutions such as Singapore Management University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Nanyang Technological University.

 

The summit also included panel discussions on the use of predictive analytics to enhance student performance, the role of data in curriculum design and development, and the latest innovations in applying AI to the global job market.

 

SQU’s participation in this global event underscores its ongoing commitment to strengthening its international presence, expanding academic collaboration, and keeping abreast of global trends in educational data, all in support of advancing its academic and research ecosystem.
