University Launches First Graduation Projects Exhibition
The University has launched the first edition of its Graduation Projects Exhibition at the Conference and Exhibition Hall. The event, which will run for three days, was inaugurated under the patronage of Dr. Nasser bin Musabbah Al-Zeidi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs.
The exhibition is organised by the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service. It brings together 122 outstanding projects that reflect unique visions, where knowledge meets creativity and theories are transformed into practical solutions addressing both local and global challenges. The event also features student competitions aimed at fostering innovation and creativity among participants. Outstanding projects will be honoured in five categories: best overall project, most innovative project, project with the best impact, best interdisciplinary collaborative project, and people’s choice award (based solely on public voting).
Prof. Salim bin Hamoud Al-Harthi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service, praised the graduation projects, noting that they go beyond being mere academic requirements. They also contribute to developing students’ research, analytical, and digital skills, preparing them for scientific publishing, postgraduate studies, career opportunities, and even entrepreneurship. More importantly, these projects offer practical ideas and tangible outcomes that can serve the needs of the community and various industrial sectors. He emphasised that each project in this exhibition represents a unique journey where knowledge merges with creativity, and theoretical concepts are translated into real-world solutions for local and global challenges. These projects stand as a testament to our students’ commitment to building a better future, in line with the goals and aspirations of the Oman Vision 2040.
The exhibition also aims to promote a culture of research and innovation among undergraduate students at SQU, to inspire future generations, and to encourage the presentation and dissemination of graduation projects within and beyond the SQU community. It provides valuable opportunities for students to engage with academics and industry representatives, while also reinforcing the University’s standing as a leading institution in research excellence, innovation, and practical application. Furthermore, the exhibition contributes to strengthening collaboration with partners in the public and industrial sectors.
