Third Implementation Plan Labs Opening Ceremony (2026-2030)
On Thursday, 9 January 2025, Sultan Qaboos University launched the labs of the Third Implementation Plan (2026-2030) under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahad bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, with the presence of members of the administrative and academic faculty.
Her Highness Sayyida Dr. Mona bint Fahad Al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation and Head of the Supervisory Committee for Strategic and Implementation Plans, started the event with a speech confirming the importance of these labs in enhancing the methods of strategic planning at the university and their role in achieving future goals that accompany the Oman Vision 2040. Her Highness also emphasised that the labs reflect the university's commitment to innovation and world-level pioneering in higher education, research and entrepreneurship.
The ceremony included several presentations on different aspects of the implementation plan. Afra Al-Manei, Deputy Director of Planning and Statistics, presented the methodology of preparing the Third Implementation Plan. This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Basma Al-Yazeedi, Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Office for Institutional and Scientific Research on the mechanism of putting the performance indicators and progress measurement in achieving the plan goals.
Dr. Aseela Al-Harthi, Head of the Strategic and Academic Risks Section, highlighted the methodology followed to specify and manage potential risks to ensure the university's preparedness to deal with challenges. Moreover, Suhaila Al-Yusufi, Accountant at the Department of Financial Affairs, delivered a presentation on managing project budgets effectively to achieve the goals using available resources.
To conclude the ceremony, Saif Al-Maawali, Head of Strategy Execution Follow Up Section, and Saif Al-Sharji from the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Office, delivered a presentation that comprehensively highlighted the methods of following up and managing projects to ensure integrity between different sectors to achieve university goals.
