The Agricultural and Marine Sciences Society at the College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences launched the 14th Agricultural Scientific Festival “Midad” at the Grand Hall, the Cultural Centre, under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice-Chancellor. The festival’s theme “Creative Cultural Industries in Agriculture and Marine Sciences” presents a renewed vision that links scientific knowledge with cultural identity and highlights the potential of agriculture and the sea to evolve into creative industries with sustainable economic and cultural value.

The festival aims to serve as a national platform that brings together scientific research, youth innovation and cultural industries, reinforcing the role of the agricultural and marine sectors in economic diversification and sustainability in line with the Oman Vision 2040. It seeks to showcase innovative student projects, promote environmental sustainability and the green economy, connect students with the labour market and entrepreneurs, and highlight industries linked to land and sea resources.

Running throughout the three days, 22 - 24 February, in both morning and evening sessions, the exhibition features interactive scientific corners representing the College’s specialisations, including plant sciences, soil and water technologies, natural resource economics, marine sciences, animal and veterinary sciences, and food and nutrition. It also showcases applied student projects, modern technologies and interactive experiences, alongside participation from governmental and private entities and entrepreneurial initiatives with cultural and economic dimensions.

The festival also hosts a series of specialised lectures delivered by national experts and researchers, addressing topics such as biological control of plant diseases, freshwater fish research in the Sultanate of Oman, the Wadi Dawkah Frankincense Project, natural reserve management, and veterinary sustainability and stray animal management. Through this integrated programme, the festival seeks to empower youth innovation, enhance the public image of the agricultural and marine sectors, support creative industries rooted in Omani identity, and strengthen collaboration between students and supporting institutions.
