In order to disseminate information on the role of biomedical laboratories in healthcare services in the community, the Sultan Qaboos University Medical Student Community (MedSCO) Standing Committee on Biomedical Science (SCOBS) organized an exhibition titled ‘FOCUS’ from 31 March to 2 April 2019 at the exhibition area of the student services center at SQU. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Amer bin Ali Al Rawas, SQU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service.
The objectives of the event was to spread awareness on some common diseases and methods to prevent and treat these diseases and to highlight the role of biomedical scientists in diagnosing such diseases. In addition, the exhibition also shed light on the importance of some assays or tests that could save the life of people and patients.
The exhibition consisted of different stations, each of them earmarked for a particular disease that is marked through a universal day. Each station shed information on a particular disease, its symptoms,and diagnosis and lab test explaining how the test is done and how they are interpreted and how it can help to prevent and treat the diseases.
