Sultan Qaboos University continues its preparations to welcome new students from the fortieth cohort for the 2025/2026 academic year. This applies to candidates for admission into the programmes of Art Education, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and Music and Musical Sciences, whose total number amounts to 720 male and female students – 300 in Art Education, the same number in Physical Education, and 120 in Music and Musical Sciences – in addition to 36 students in the programme for students with disabilities. It is noteworthy that the number of seats allocated by the University for these three programmes is only 110. These aptitude tests will continue until 13 August.

The aptitude tests in these fields are held annually in cooperation with the College of Education and the College of Arts and Social Sciences. Committees comprising academic and administrative staff have been formed to supervise the preparation and administration of these tests, ensuring the selection of the best candidates for admission. The fortieth cohort of students admitted from the General Education Diploma holders will also be received between 30 August and 9 September.

Amal bint Younis Al-Maini, Head of the Admission and Transfer Department for Undergraduate Studies at the Deanship of Admission and Registration, said: “As part of Sultan Qaboos University’s preparations to welcome the fortieth cohort of new students, the University has begun receiving eligible candidates to sit the admission tests for the following specialisations: Art Education, Physical Education, Music, and Musical Sciences, during the period from 7 to 13 August.”

Al-Maini added that the Admissions Team supervised the organisation of the work of the committees responsible for these tests, ensuring a suitable environment that enables students to take their tests with ease and comfort. This effort comes as part of the University’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the quality of academic procedures and upholding the principle of fairness in admissions. The Admissions Team also extended its best wishes to all students for success in their forthcoming academic journey.

It is worth noting that the orientation programme for new students includes meetings, tours, and lectures for all admitted students, during which they explore university life. The first meeting will be held on the first day of the orientation week in the Grand Hall, to welcome them to this prestigious academic institution, provide them with essential instructions and advice, and familiarise them with the University’s rules and regulations that must be adhered to throughout their studies. The University has made full preparations to welcome this cohort by forming committees and work teams to arrange and facilitate all matters related to student admission and reception.
