Wooden Bridge Competition: Students Bring Home Accolades

Three student teams from the Civil and Architectural Engineering Department, College of Engineering, brought accolades to the University from the “11th Annual Wooden Bridge Competition” organized by the American University in Dubai - UAE on 23 March 2019. The teams from SQU competed with 22 teams from several Gulf Universities. The teams supervised by Dr. Sherif El Sayed El Gamal, Associate Professor in the Civil and Architectural Engineering Department, won the first place in both “Bridge Load Efficiency” and “Target Load Capacity” categories of the competition. In addition, they won the second and fourth places in the first competition “Bridge Load Efficiency”.

Team-1 consisting of students Abdulsalam Mohammed Alshahri, Sulaiman Salim Almasalti, and Al Shifa Ali Salim Al Uwaisi won first place in the first competition “Bridge Load Efficiency” and first place in the second competition “Target Load Capacity”. Team-2 consisting of students Mohammed Ali Al-Balushi, Mazin Hamed Al Ma’mari and  Mahmood Hamid Aljadidi won second place in the first competition “Bridge Load Efficiency”. Team-3 constituted by students Maryam Zuhair Al Fannah, Maitha Juma Aldhamri and Shahad Khalid Al Rasbi won fourth plance in the first competition “Bridge Load Efficiency”. All the above teams were supervised by Dr. Sherif El Sayed El Gamal.
