SQU, Ministry of Education Sign Cooperation Program
Sultan Qaboos University and the Ministry of Education signed a cooperation program for provision of field training and student teaching opportunities for candidates from the College of education in the schools governed by the Ministry. This cooperation program is part of the efforts of two parties in educating and deploying well-qualified teacher graduates in government and private schools supervised by the Ministry of Education. The program was signed by H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, the Vice Chancellor of SQU and H.E. Dr. Saud bin Salim Al Balushi, Undersecretary for Planning and Human Resources at the Ministry of Education on 19 March 2019 at SQU.
Meanwhile, H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani and H.E. Dr. Saud bin Salim Al Balushi chaired the sixth meeting of the joint committee between SQU and the Ministry of Education on Tuesday. The Committee discussed several topics on the agenda of the meeting, which included a proposed mechanism for the appointment of graduates of the early education program. The meeting discussed strategic research and curricular activities, as well as the project of "developing and standardizing psychological and educational measures on the Omani environment for school students" between the Ministry and SQU. It also considered the possibility of financing it from both sides.
The meeting reviewed the possibility of adding teaching courses in the College of Education at SQU on comprehensive education and dealing with students with disabilities and special needs. Development and implementation of courses on school-home partnership and the activation of parental involvement in education were also discussed. The committee reviewed the possibility of launching master's program in the fields of innovation, intellectual property rights and teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in an interdisciplinary and applied approach (STEM).
