Hamza Khalid Sayyid Crowned Colleges Badminton Champion
Student Hamza Khalid Sayyid from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences was crowned champion of the Colleges Badminton Tournament after defeating his fellow student Asadullah Mohammed (2–1) in the final match. Faris bin Fahd Al-Shibli from the College of Education secured third place, while Mohammed bin Talib Al-Lamki, also from the College of Education, finished fourth.
The tournament was held in the sports hall at the Student Sports Complex in a spirited Ramadan atmosphere, with the participation of 33 students representing various colleges across the University. Competitors were divided into two groups, after which the tournament progressed through a knockout format leading to the final.
The matches showcased impressive technical standards, reflecting the players’ skills and the development of their performance, which contributed to delivering strong and engaging contests that drew enthusiastic audience interaction.
The tournament was overseen by Captain Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Mufarraji, the University’s racket sports coach. He noted that the competition revealed a number of outstanding players who will be selected to join the University team in preparation for upcoming local and international tournaments.
