SQU, University of South Australia to Promote Cooperation
In order to promote cooperation in teaching, research and other areas of mutual interest between the two organizations, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and University of South Australia signed a letter of agreement (LoA) on Monday, 14 January 2019. The agreement was signed by Dr. Ali Hussain Al Bulushi, Assistant Dean for Training and Community Services, College of Education on behalf of Dr. Suleiman Al Balushi, Dean of the College of Education at SQU and Prof. Mohamad Abdalla, Director for the Centre of Islamic Thought & Education, University of South Australia in the presence of Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, SQU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies & Research.
The objective of the LoA is to outline the manner in which the universities will discuss and evaluate opportunities to undertake cooperative activities in teaching and research in education and exchange of staff and students. The LoA deals with proposed exchange of information for education and research purposes between the two universities and joint education and training. As per the LoA, the two universities will conduct joint research, leading to joint publications and organize symposia and other activities considered by the organizations to be of benefit to each party's education and research programs.
The delegation from the University of South Australia to SQU consisted of Prof. Mohamad Abdalla, Director of the Centre for Islamic Thought and Education (CITE), Prof. Graham Hardy, Dean and Head of Department of School of Education, and Ramila Chanisheff, Manager, Center for Islamic Thought and Education. It is worth mentioning that an action plan for cooperation is in place between SQU and University of South Australia for joint research and exchange of students and faculty members.
