SQU, Charles University to Boost Ties

A delegation from Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, headed by its Rector Prof. Tomáš Zima visited Sultan Qaboos University on 19 November 2018 to follow up its earlier visit to SQU to establish cooperation between the two universities.

The delegation met the Director General of SQU Hospital and the Dean of the College of Medicine & Health Sciences to review the progress in the student exchange between SQU and Charles University based on the agreement on semester exchanges of medical students. They discussed scientific exchange between Charles University and SQU in medicine and health sciences disciplines. The two sides explored the possibility of joint research projects in oncology, cardiology and genetics. Discussion was also held the use of artificial intelligence in medicine and optimization of medicaments for the Sultanate of Oman, by using the top quality generic drugs.

Meanwhile, a part of the delegation visited the Dean of the College of Education at SQU.  They discussed joint projects between SQU and Charles University on pre-school education, through Deputy Rector Prof. Radka Wildova. They reviewed student exchange based on the student agreement on semester exchanges.

Subsequent to meetings with officials from the College of Medicine, SQU Hospital and the College of Education, Prof. Tomáš Zima and his team met H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, the Vice Chancellor of SQU, Prof. Amer Al Rawas, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Community Service and H.H. Sayyidah Dr. Mona bint Fahad Al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation. The two sides reviewed the outcome of their meetings at SQU, ways to implement the partnership and expand it to other areas.
