Dr. Kamla Ali Al Busaidi, Associate Professor of the Information Systems Department at the College of Economics & Political Science, was honored by Omani French Association (OFA) at the first OFA’s Inspirational Women of Oman Ceremony 2018 held on Monday, 22 October.  The Omani French Friendship Association’s (OFA) Inspirational Women of Oman Ceremony was held to shed light and celebrate Omani women’s role and contribution to the development and prosperity of the country. Four Omani women were awarded for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields at the first OFA’s Inspirational Women of Oman Ceremony 2018. The award was given by Ms. Hind Bahwan, the Chairperson of the Association, and His Excellency the Ambassador of France to the Sultanate. Dr. Kamla Ali Ali-Busaidi was awarded for her distinguished efforts and achievements in the field of education.

Dr. Kamla obtained her B.Sc. from the information systems department at SQU , and then appointed as demonstrator and awarded scholarships to get her MSc and PhD from the United States.  Dr. Kamla has been teaching and conducting research in the field of knowledge management systems, knowledge economy, management information systems and ICT investments.  She has several publications in forms of conference articles, journal articles and book chapters.  Dr. Kamla held the head of information systems department in September 2015 to September 2018.  During her Head of Department term, she established, with the department, and chaired the 1st and 2nd SQU information systems forums in 2017 and 2018 respectively to enrich discussions and communication between academics, students, practitioners, and the society. Dr. Kamla has been encouraging academic research not only among M.Sc. students but also B.Sc. students and supervised several students international refereed journal publications and conference publications international conference and journal publications. Dr. Kamla served in many committees at SQU and local organizations Dr. Kamla served as a session chair, organizing member and a reviewer for several local, regional and international conferences, and as a reviewer and editorial member for several international journals.
