On 24 October 2018, the Department of Psychology at the College of Education, organized the first research forum under the patronage of Prof. Amer Bin Ali Al-Rawas, SQU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Community Service. In addition to academics, researchers and students from the College, a number of public figures and specialists in the field of psychology also attended the forum.

A symposium entitled "Enhancing research communication" was organized in order to identify the research interests of students and faculty members, encourage students to participate in scientific meetings, promote joint and inter-disciplinary research, and disseminate the culture of research. Several topics on research in educational psychology, measurement and evaluation, guidance and career guidance, and special education was discussed in the symposium. Around 60 papers were presented in the forum. The forum also offered four workshops on writing research reports, research methodology, open source data and documentation, multiple regression analysis and exploratory data analysis.

Dr. Mahmoud Imam, Head of the Psychology Department at the College of Education pointed out that this forum comes within the framework of strengthening research communication between the Department of Psychology and psychologists in educational institutions in the Sultanate of Oman.
