Omani Studies Centre Team Visits Brunei

A team of Omani Studies Center at SQU paid an 11-day research visit to the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam.  The visit is part of the researches funded by SQU internal grants.  The research aims at studying the Omani- Brunei relationships 'basics, opportunities and challenges from 1984 till date.  The research will also cover the geographic, historic, cultural, civilization, economic and political aspects of the Sultanate of Oman and the Sultanate of Brunei, who have strong historic relations.

The visit aimed at collecting information from the different sources in the Sultanate of Brunei.  The research team had several meetings with ex and current Ministers of Foreign Affairs who welcomed the research ideas and expressed willingness to provide all information in this regard.  Erywan Yusof, the current Minister of Foreign Affairs advised the research team that he advised Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of the research project.

It should be noted that the research team prepares to have meetings with the officials involved in the relationship between the Sultanate of Oman and the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam.  After completing this project, a book will be published in English and Arabic about the relationship between the two countries. The book will later be translated into Malawian language, a step recommended by officials and researchers in both countries.
