SQU Council Approves Center for Innovation & Technology Transfer
Sultan Qaboos University Council held its fourth meeting for the academic year 2017-2018 on Monday, 11 June 2018, at the University Council meeting hall, chaired by H.E. Dr. Rawya bint Saud Al-Busaidi, Minister of Higher Education and Chairperson of the Council.
The agenda included a number of topics on which appropriate decisions were taken. The Council discussed the proposal to strengthen the interaction between the university and society in cultural and related fields in cooperation with the cultural institutions in the Sultanate, which received the approval of the Council.
The Board approved the budget of the University administration and the University Hospital for the fiscal year 2019. It also adopted the restructuring of the university requirements of the academic courses starting from the academic year 2018-2019 to cope with contemporary cultural and social changes. On the other hand, the Council welcomed the proposal to introduce performance indicators in the preparation of budgets for various programs and activities of the University in the next phase.
The Center for Innovation & Technology Transfer was also approved at the university, where the Center will support academics and students in the education process and engage in all areas related to innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Council also reviewed the report of the achievements of the Executive Plan of the University for the Strategic Plan for the years 2016 and 2017, the investment report at the University, and the outline for future academic programs at the University.
