Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa Seeks Ties with SQU

On Thursday, 5 December 2019, H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, the Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), received in his office, Prof. Dr. Nuri Aydin, Rector of Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa in Turkey. The two sides discussed the possibilities of academic and research ties between the two universities in terms of student and faculty exchange and collaborative research in medicine, engineering and other areas of mutual interest.

Istanbul University was split into two institutions by the authority of Turkish Government in 2018. Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa was established based on this decision as a new university. Istanbul University–Cerrahpasa is classified as one of the 11 research universities out of more than 100 state universities in Turkey. This university undertakes research activities that have contributed to scientific development. It is actively involved in the transfer of education, training, information and technology, with culture and priority of research that echoes on its cooperative relations with industry and international institutions.

Istanbul University–Cerrahpasa, has 12 facilities including Medicine and, Nursing and Engineering, and six institutes. Across nine campuses, the University has enrolled around 40000 students for associate, bachelor’s masters and doctorate degree programs. Being a research university, Istanbul University–Cerrahpasa offers 112 master’s programs and 108 doctorate programs.
