Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized a ceremony for honoring 323 students for their excellence in student activities. The event was held on Sunday, 21 April at the Conference Hall of the University under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, the Vice Chancellor.
The students belonged to 32 student groups functioning under the Deanship of Student Affairs, colleges and some other units. Dr. Hamoud Khalfan Al Hadrami, Dean of Student Affairs delivered a speech in which he said that student activities plays a key role in the personality development and skill development of the students. He noted that extracurricular activities represent an important part of the student’s progress, adding to their knowledge and interaction with the academic community. Dr. Al Hadrami added that the university is proud of its students and their capabilities and it would not spare any effort to provide appropriate support to them, so that could contribute to national development.
The 323 students who were honored by the Vice Chancellor performed well in scientific, cultural, religious, media, sporting and social activities. A short film about student activities was screened on the occasion. Musicians from Oman Centre for Traditional Music performed Omani traditional music compositions.
