On Sunday, 18 November 2018, Sultan Qaboos University celebrated the 48th National Day of the Sultanate with the memorable hashtag “Your University Celebrates”. The main celebration, organized by the Public Relations & Information Department at the garden near the University’s clock tower, was marked by big turnout of students and employees from all the different colleges and units of SQU. Through the celebrations, the SQU community reiterated their feelings of pride and trust coupled with feeling of love and good wishes to the architect of modern Oman, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The celebration was attended by senior administrators including the Vice Chancellor, his deputies, academics, students and employees from different colleges, units and centres of the University.
At the venue and elsewhere on the campus, celebration fever was evident with national flags and pictures of His Majesty waving in the wind and in the hands of everyone. The officials from the Public Relations & Information Department distributed Omani flags to the audience. SQU Camel crops and cavalry organized an equestrian show at the venue. The Military Band of the Royal Guard of Oman played music that arose the spirit of patriotism, pride and love for the nation. Omani traditional music and dance performances and processions also livened up the festivities. Separate celebrations were organized by different college and centres of SQU to mark 48th National Day.
