Vector Network Analyser: New Technology for Communication Research

08 Jul, 2026 |

The Communication and Information Research Centre enhanced its research and educational ability through acquiring a Vector Network Analyser, an advanced device used to measure the amplitude and phase of electrical signals across a wide frequency range from 9 kHz to 6 GHz.

The device is used to analyse the performance of radio frequency and microwave components such as antennas, filters and amplifiers making it a fundamental tool for designing wireless communication systems and conducting advanced research in this field.

The device enables researchers and students to conduct/perform precise and advanced measurements for their projects in modern communication and wireless technologies. It further enhances the Centre’s role as a national research platform that supports innovation, digital transformations, and the development of knowledge-based economy.

It is worth mentioning that this device was made possible through the support of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) as part of its ongoing initiatives to promote research, foster innovation and enhance collaboration between both academic and industrial sectors. SQU emphasised that the collaboration reflects the fruitful strategic partnership with the industrial sector and represents the vital role of research in supporting the national economy and development of national talent.
