Conclusion of 2nd Research Competition for Undergraduate Students

The College of Law celebrated the conclusion of the Second Research Competition for undergraduate students across universities in the GCC, held under the patronage of H.E. Ahmed bin Salim Al-Rujaibi, Deputy Chairman of the State Audit Institution for Government Units Auditing. The event took place in Lecture Hall 11 at the College of Law.

Dr. Rashid bin Hamoud Al-Nadhairi, from the Department of Private Law, delivered a speech in which he praised the efforts of the participating students. He stated that the research competition establishes a new milestone and rekindles a proud tradition. It carries clear objectives and distinguished aspirations. He also commended the efforts of the competition committee and all those who contributed to and participated in the event.

The competition covered nine topics, including mechanisms for combating corruption in light of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, methods of dispute resolution under the Convention, and alignment between national criminal legislation and the Convention. It also addressed corruption crimes and criminal protection, criminal policy in combating corruption crimes, procedural aspects of combating corruption crimes, and the need to establish a specialised court, among other topics.

A total of 25 students from various GCC universities took part in the competition. The initiative aims to highlight students’ creative talents, promote a culture of legal research, develop analytical and critical thinking skills, foster healthy competition among students, and enrich academic knowledge in the legal field.

Five research papers were selected as winners in the final round: three from Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences, one from the College of Law at the University of Bahrain, and one from the College of Law at SQU.
