MedSCO Organises Blood Donation Campaign at Al Araimi Boulevard

03 Sep, 2026 |

The Public Health Committee (SCOPH) of the Medical Student Group (MedSCO) organised its main blood donation campaign at Al Araimi Boulevard, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of blood donation and encourage members of the community to take part in this humanitarian initiative. The campaign also provided visitors with an opportunity to donate blood through the Seeb Blood Donation Centre.

The organising team presented a range of awareness materials covering various aspects of blood donation, including its importance and the impact it can have on patients’ lives. Visitors learned about blood groups, eligibility requirements for donors, and the stages involved in transferring blood from the donor to the recipient, as well as the locations where blood donations can be made. They also had the opportunity to find out their blood group, donate blood at the centre, ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of the donation process.

A dedicated children’s corner and interactive activities were also featured, helping to communicate important health messages in a simple and engaging way suitable for different age groups. By bringing awareness and practical action together in one place, the campaign enabled visitors not only to learn about blood donation but also to turn that knowledge into a meaningful action with a direct impact on another person’s life.

Engagement with visitors also helped reinforce the concept of blood donation as both a social responsibility and an important culture that should be sustained. A decision to donate, after all, may give a patient another chance at life.

The campaign ultimately highlighted that the value of giving is measured not by its size or the time it takes, but by the impact it leaves behind. Just a few minutes of a donor’s time can make a significant difference in another person’s life.
