3rd International Student Conference on Scientific Research Opens

The third International Student Conference on Scientific Research was launched today under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Dr. Muna bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor for International Cooperation.

The conference addresses a range of themes, including AI in scientific research, green technologies, education in the era of the industrial revolution, and scientific research and community development.

The conference aims to link undergraduate studies with scientific research and societal needs, foster a culture of research, creativity, and innovation within the university environment, highlight student research efforts, and provide a platform to present their findings. It also seeks to enhance cooperation among academic and research institutions in the GCC countries, prepare students for professional careers in scientific research, promote a culture of scholarly publishing, and encourage students to produce research suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, it focuses on connecting student research with community and labour market needs and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise among students, researchers, and academic staff.

Dr. Suleiman bin Dawood Al-Sab’ei, Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Chair of the Conference Committee, noted that more than 200 students from 28 higher education institutions inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman are participating in this conference, adding that the conference is a national and scientific platform that celebrates young minds and believes in their ability to contribute to building a brighter future.

The conference targets Omani students enrolled in higher education institutions in Oman, those studying abroad, and students from GCC countries enrolled in higher education institutions there.

During the conference, which includes participation from several public and private universities in Oman and abroad, key statistics from 2022 to 2025 were presented. Graduate students at SQU completed approximately 3,000 theses, participated in 165 prestigious international conferences, and received 136 national and international scientific awards during the same period.
