Student Counselling Centre Gets International Accreditation

In connection with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Student Counseling Center at Sultan Qaboos University, Dr. Maha bint Abdul Majeed Al-Ani, Director of the Student Counseling Center announced that the Center has received international institutional accreditation from the International Association of Counseling Services. Thus, the Student Counseling Center at SQU becomes the second center in the Arab world to receive this achievement.

Meanwhile, the Second Counseling and Guidance Specialists Forum entitled “The Reality of Counseling services in higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman” commenced at SQU. The forum seeks to address the challenges associated with specialized professional guidance programs and services in order to keep pace with the scientific, professional and technical development of the profession of psychological counseling. The forum reviewed nine papers in two sessions with the participation of professors and researchers from the ministries and institutions of higher education in the Sultanate of Oman.

At the opening ceremony Dr. Maha bint Abdul Majeed Al-Ani said that the‎ center has progressed at a steady pace toward a new future, considering the intellectual and strategic developments in the Arab world and world in general. At the closing ceremony, H.E. Dr. Ali Saud Al Bimani, Vice Chancellor of SQU launched the ethical charter for the counselling and guidance professionals at SQU.
