The University has concluded the work of the Third Executive Plan Laboratories (2026–2030), which spanned three weeks and featured the participation of a distinguished group of academics, researchers, administrators and experts.
The laboratories discussed a set of ambitious strategic projects aimed at enhancing the University’s position both locally and internationally, while achieving excellence in academic, research and administrative domains.
Mazin bin Hamid Al-Sulaimani, Director of Planning and Statistics, confirmed:
“The laboratories focused on developing five-year executive plans for strategic projects aligned with the objectives, priorities, and capabilities of the University’s Strategic Plan 2016–2040. These projects include strengthening the University’s teaching and learning system, a gradual transition to a pioneering university model, enhancing the scientific research framework, improving the University’s position in global rankings, upgrading infrastructure, driving digital transformation, and advancing human resource development.”
He further explained that the laboratories were the culmination of a series of preparatory workshops that commenced in January 2025. These included scenario planning (6–8 January), laboratory management (9 January), developing performance indicators (22 January) and identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies (23 January). The scenario planning methodology was applied in developing executive plans for projects, enabling the anticipation of future challenges and opportunities in a dynamic environment. The laboratory teams conducted a thorough analysis of the current landscape, identified key challenges and influencing factors, and devised initiatives to address challenges while capitalising on opportunities.
Through this initiative, SQU reaffirms its commitment to advancing academic, research, and administrative excellence, contributing to its ambitious vision of leadership and distinction in the coming phase.
It is worth noting that the laboratories commenced at the beginning of January with the attendance of numerous academic, research, administrative, and technical staff members. The opening sessions reviewed the methodology for preparing the plan, performance measurement mechanisms, risk management strategies, efficient project budget management, and cross-sectoral integration to ensure the achievement of strategic goals.
