Tenth Agricultural Festival Launched

The 10th Agricultural Festival organized by the Agricultural & Marine Sciences Society at SQU was launched at the Grand Hall of the SQU Cultural Center on Sunday, 17 February 2019 under the patronage of H.H. Sayyad Dr. Fahad Bin Al-Julanda Al-Said, Assistant Secretary General of the Innovation Development Department of The Research Council. The festival will last for four days.

Dr. Omar bin Salem AL Jabri, Assistant Dean for Training and Community Service at the College of Agricultural & Marine Sciences, in his speech at the opening ceremony, highlighted the role of the College in spreading awareness on the latest developments in agricultural and marine sciences, food security and related disciplines and its close relations with the community. He pointed out that the College is very close to the society because of its association with the essential elements that are necessary to all sectors of society. It is impossible to live without pure water and food. He said that improving the quality of life of the community comes through healthy food and a healthy environment. The opening ceremony also included a video highlighting the previous editions of the Agricultural Festival.

The festival is a platform that brings together science students and public and private sector organizations specialized in these fields to discuss and present ideas, projects and scientific innovations that contribute to the scientific development in the Sultanate, and to highlight the innovation and creativity of the university students. The festival features projects and presentations on food security, environment and related disciplines.
