SQU’s Rebranded Media Identity Turns 1

14 February 2019 marks the first anniversary of the launch of the new media identity of the Department of Public Relations and Information at Sultan Qaboos University. SQU’s new media identity was launched on 14 February 2018 at a function held under the patronage of H.E. Abdul Aziz bin Mohammed Al Rowas, His Majesty the Sultan’s Advisor for Cultural Affairs.

On 14 February 2018, the new publications of the department was launched, namely the Arabic bulletin ‘Iqra’ and English bulletin ‘Imprint’, and the e-platform ‘Anwar’, which serves as an online media portal that disseminate news reports, features, videos and other media content related to SQU. The concept of the new identity is to be practical, clear-sighted, simple and modern.

The development of media identity comes to create a positive and interactive media content that is consistent with the vision, mission, goals and values of Sultan Qaboos University and to provide contemporary content focusing on the stories and experiences of the associates in the institution of students and employees.

The Public Relations and Information Department, through its publications, radio and television programs and social media networks, has opened wide horizons of dialogue, discussion, exchange of ideas, information and interaction on various issues, studies and research. The Media wing of the Department has succeeded in placing a prominent position to the university in the local and foreign media by providing various forms of content with the participation of academics and students at the university.

The logo of the Department of Public Relations & Information conceives the attributes of practicality, clarity, brevity, simplicity and modernity. The design and the shape of the logo combines features such as the first letter of the Arabic alphabet (alef) which is included in the names of its publications Iqraa), Anwar and the English letter ‘I’ in ‘Imprint’. The logo carries in itself the shield symbol in the University’s logo, as well as the symbol of a dip pen. The line depicted in the logo emphasizes modernity, clarity and powerfulness that stand for the Department’s mission, which seeks to be simple and clear without complexity or ornamentation in its messages to the public.
