Springboard Program: SQU Teams Bring Accolades

Teams consisting of female students, graduates and employees from Sultan Qaboos University won the first three places in the 8th edition of the Springboard program organized by Ooredoo Oman. Developed by women for women of all ages and backgrounds, the Springboard program seeks to drive female empowerment into action. The final ceremony of the graduation project program witnessed participants competing against one another to be amongst the top graduating projects. The project ‘Naqla’ (leap) won the first place; the team Ma’aq (with you) won the second place; and the team ‘Khadma’ (services for home maintenance”).

According to Ooredoo officials, the Springboard project modules are have been carefully designed to provide Oman’s national talent-pool with the skillsets and knowledge they need to successfully climb the corporate ladder. Conducted in collaboration with the British Council and Springboard Consultancy UK, Springboard was designed by women for women. A three-month long program, it consists of a number of components including workshops that tackle subjects such as confidence building, goal setting, networking, work-life balance and key business skills. The company said that this year’s edition of the program saw highly motivated candidates looking to drive change work closely with industry leaders and licensed trainers to develop viable digital projects that can be implemented on a large scale.

The Centre for Career Guidance at SQU facilitated the participation of SQU students and employees in the Springboard program. Maryam Al Masroori, Director of the Centre said that the program was a great opportunity for the female students and employees at the University to exhibit their talent in the fields of entrepreneurship and business.  “This is for the second time that SQU female employees and participants are attending the program. Ooredoo also provided support for the Centre to organize and motivate women at SQU to attend this valued program”, she said.
