SQU to Host Middle East Cancer Research Association Meeting
The Food Science and Nutrition (FSN) Department, in collaboration with the Middle Eastern Association for Cancer Research & College of Medicine of Qatar University is organizing the 8th Annual Meeting of the Middle-Eastern Association for Cancer Research (MEACR) that will be held at the Faculty Club Annex, Sultan Qaboos University, on 8 to 9 December 2018.
The meeting aims to address the basic understanding of cancer, its risk factors, preventive measures, and possible treatments currently available in the world and the Middle Easter Region. The meeting has three unique features that makes it distinctive: (1) Covers newly updated information in the field of nutrition and cancer, (2) Provides a comprehensive link between primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of different types of cancer, and (3) Combines basic science approaches with clinical practice in cancer prevention.
Invited speakers will present talks about the following themes: Mechanisms and biomarkers in the pathogenesis of cancer & Oxidative stress and cancer prevention & Medical aspects (Etiology, therapy and survivorship) in the development of different types of cancers; Bioactive components and natural therapeutic agents in cancer prevention; Dietary supplements and cancer risk & Dietary modulation of the microbiome and cancer risk; Nutrition after cancer diagnosis; Dietary patterns and cancer & Energy balance, obesity and physical activity–Emerging concepts and strategies for intervention.
