A Long-Lasting Impact: SQU Prepares for its 40th Anniversary
Sultan Qaboos University is preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary on 9 November, the date marking the University’s inauguration under the patronage of the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The celebration is held under the theme “A Long-Lasting Impact”, recalling four decades of national and scholarly contribution, and a journey in which the University has helped to shape people, generate knowledge and anticipate the future.
The theme reflects a university whose impact has extended over four decades to touch every aspect of development in the Sultanate of Oman. This has been achieved through an integrated system that places people at the heart of nation-building, treats knowledge as the cornerstone of sustainable production grounded in research and innovation, and looks to the future as the foundation from which it moves forward, with a dynamic of knowledge, innovation and science that strengthens the drivers of progress and prosperity.
Over the course of forty years, the University has prepared generations of Omani professionals who have gone on to serve a wide range of sectors, taking with them the learning, knowledge and experience they acquired into the fields of work, production and national service. Its contribution has gone beyond research and studies to include research partnerships and projects that have helped to translate scientific knowledge into applications, decisions and initiatives with enduring impact, reinforcing the University’s standing as an active partner in the national development journey.
