Preparations are under way to welcome the 41st cohort of new students for the 2026/2027 academic year, with 963 male and female applicants currently taking ability assessments for selected programmes.

The assessments are being conducted for applicants to Art Education, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Music and Musicology, and Architectural Engineering, as well as for students with disabilities. The numbers include 301 applicants for Art Education, 303 for Physical Education, 120 for Music and Musicology, and 121 Architectural Engineering, alongside 118 students in the programme for students with disabilities. The assessments will continue until 12 August.

Held annually in cooperation with the College of Education, the College of Arts and Social Sciences, and the College of Engineering, the ability assessments are overseen by committees comprising academic and administrative staff. These committees are responsible for preparing and administering the assessments in accordance with the approved admission requirements and procedures.

The 41st cohort of students admitted on the basis of General Education Diplomas will be welcomed to SQU on Sunday, 30 August.

As part of the preparations, an orientation programme will be organised for the new students, featuring introductory meetings, campus tours and lectures designed to familiarise them with university life. The programme will begin with a gathering in the Grand Hall, where students will be welcomed and provided with essential information and guidance on university rules and regulations to support them throughout their academic journey.

Committees and teams have also been formed to coordinate admission, reception and orientation arrangements, ensuring a smooth transition for the new cohort as they begin their university studies.
