SQU’s Journal of Engineering Research Advances to Q3 in Scopus CiteScore Rankings

The Journal of Engineering Research, published by SQU, has achieved a new milestone in its journey toward international academic excellence after advancing to the third quartile (Q3) in the General Engineering category according to the latest Scopus CiteScore rankings. The journal’s CiteScore increased to 1.5, accompanied by an advancement of 15 positions compared to the previous year.
 
This achievement reflects the growing scientific impact of the journal and its increasing visibility within the global research community. It also underscores the success of SQU’s efforts to strengthen the quality, reach, and international competitiveness of its scholarly publications.
 
Commenting on this achievement, Prof. Amer bin Saif Al-Hinai, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Research, emphasised that the journal’s advancement to Q3 represents a significant step in enhancing the university’s research reputation and expanding the global reach of Omani scientific contributions. He stated: “this achievement reflects the University’s commitment to developing high-quality scientific publishing platforms capable of attracting distinguished research and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in fields that support innovation, sustainable development, and national priorities.”
 
For his part, Prof. Farouk Sabri Mjalli, Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Engineering Research, noted that the achievement is the result of sustained institutional efforts and the dedication of the editorial board, reviewers, authors, and supporting teams. He stated: “the journal’s progression to Q3 confirms the effectiveness of the measures implemented to enhance editorial quality, strengthen peer-review processes, and expand international collaboration. We remain committed to further improving the journal’s standing and increasing its impact within the global engineering research community.”
 
The Journal of Engineering Research is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research across a broad spectrum of engineering disciplines, including civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical, environmental, industrial, petroleum, and materials engineering, as well as architecture. The journal serves as an international platform for researchers, academics, and professionals seeking to advance engineering knowledge and innovation.
It is worth noting that the Journal of Engineering Research, established in 2004, has strengthened its presence in the academic landscape through the publication of 39 issues to date and its inclusion in the Scopus database since 2009, reflecting its strong research standing and the quality of its scholarly output. The journal is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary publication dedicated to disseminating both fundamental and applied research across various fields of engineering, attracting authors and readers from inside and outside the university.
