The Centre for Career Guidance organised the University Career Fair 2026 in its 26th edition from 13 to 15 April at the Grand Hall of the Cultural Centre, with broad participation from institutions across various employment sectors.
The fair was organised with the aim of strengthening direct and effective engagement between the University’s students and graduates and labour market institutions. It also sought to showcase the University’s academic programmes, promote its outcomes, and support Omanisation efforts across different sectors.
The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Said bin Abdullah Al-Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development. The fair targeted students at various academic levels, as well as graduates seeking employment or training opportunities, in addition to academic staff. It aimed to enhance students’ career awareness and familiarise them with labour market requirements and diverse working environments.
The fair featured the participation of 37 entities, including 33 organisations from different employment sectors, alongside 4 entities in the awareness corner. This participation provided students and graduates with the opportunity to explore available job and training opportunities and to gain insight into recruitment requirements across institutions.
The event also included a range of accompanying activities, most notably an introductory workshop titled “University Career Fair: Your Gateway to Opportunities”. In addition, a CV Clinic was held over two days with the participation of human resources specialists, offering professional guidance to students and graduates. Specialised workshops were also delivered in collaboration with several institutions, focusing on developing professional skills and preparing participants for the labour market.
Furthermore, the fair provided a dedicated space for on-the-spot job interviews conducted by participating entities, alongside an awareness corner designed to assist students and graduates in planning their career paths and enhancing their readiness to enter the workforce.
The University Career Fair is one of SQU’s most prominent annual events, serving as a key platform for aligning higher education outcomes with labour market needs and for enhancing employment and training opportunities for Omani youth.
