GCC Cultural Attachés Discuss Scholarship Development
Sultan Qaboos University hosted a meeting between representatives of the cultural attachés of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and a group of academics and officials, held at the Academic Council Hall.
The meeting focused on scholarship programmes offered by the University across all academic levels, including undergraduate, master’s and doctoral studies. Discussions covered application procedures and admission criteria, alongside an overview of the quality of academic programmes and the range of specialisations available to GCC students.
The session also featured a presentation of statistics on the number of GCC students enrolled at SQU in recent years, including comparative data illustrating trends in enrolment and levels of interest in academic programmes. Participants further explored future opportunities within upcoming scholarship schemes.
Attendees expressed their aspiration to strengthen academic cooperation between SQU and GCC countries, emphasising the importance of increasing the number of GCC students enrolled across various programmes, thereby supporting scientific and knowledge exchange within the region.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion session addressing questions and observations raised by participants, in an interactive atmosphere that reflected a shared commitment to advancing scholarship systems and educational collaboration.
Representatives of the GCC cultural attachés also took part in an introductory visit to the Virtual Reality facility, where they were introduced to the latest technologies supporting teaching and training, and the advanced interactive environments enhancing the learning experience.
