SQU Celebrates Graduation of 1,394 Students

Sultan Qaboos University held the second ceremony of the 36th cohort of its graduates on Wednesday at the amphitheatre under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs.

The ceremony commenced with an address by His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice-Chancellor, who affirmed that it is the University’s mission and vision “to equip generations with knowledge, the skills required for the present and future, and the values that anchor purposeful action.” He noted that graduates of SQU go on to serve in various sectors across the nation, “benefiting their institutions with their knowledge and skills and contributing to meaningful change at the national level.” His Highness also congratulated the graduates, describing them as “the key to a brighter future,” and extended his congratulations to their families, to the SQU community, and to Oman. He further emphasised that constructive work must be rooted in good conduct, respect for people, and alignment with moral principles, stressing that success in life is closely linked to fulfilling what Allah commands and serving the public good.

 

The proceedings included the awarding of certificates to bachelor’s degree graduates from several colleges. The event began with the College of Arts and Social Sciences, which celebrated a total of 429 graduates. This was followed by the graduates’ speech delivered by Ammar bin Saeed Al-Hinai from the same college who reflected on the joyful memories, perseverance and achievements that marked the graduates’ years at SQU, praising the University for the knowledge, values and lifelong skills it taught them. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the University administration, faculty and staff, as well as to parents and families for their unwavering support. He concluded by affirming the graduates’ determination to embrace the future with ambition and dedication, contributing to the progress and prosperity of Oman.

 

The programme continued with the awarding of certificates to the 210 graduates of the College of Law. Afterwards, a poem was recited by graduate Ahmed bin Salim Al-Sawafi from the College of Arts and Social Sciences celebrating the power of knowledge, virtue and national pride, and portraying learning as the path to advancement and honour. Through vivid imagery, the poem paid tribute to SQU’s colleges, Oman’s enduring legacy, and the steadfast values that guide its people. It concluded by affirming that the benefits of knowledge rise in proportion to the strength of the academic foundations upon which they are built.

Certificates were then presented to the 380 graduates of the College of Education. This was followed by a video presentation documenting the graduates’ academic journey and memories during their years of study. The event concluded with the awarding of certificates to the 375 graduates of the College of Economics and Political Science.

 

The second ceremony recognised a total of 1,394 graduates, in a celebratory atmosphere that reflected SQU’s pride in the fruits of its academic efforts and the joy of graduates as they embark on a new chapter in their professional and academic lives.
