Next November… SQU Holds 4th GCC Marine Biotechnology Conference
Represented by the Centre of Excellence in Marine Biotechnology and Department of Marine Science and Fisheries, Sultan Qaboos University is organising the 4th GCC Marine Biotechnology Conference: Emerging Opportunities and Future Prospects. The conference will be held on November 4th at Al Fahm hall, the University Cultural Centre, under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Yaqoub bin Khalfan Al-Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Fisheries.
This conference is a scientific platform that brings together a group of scientists, researchers and representatives of the industrial sector from the Sultanate of Oman, Gulf countries, and around the world to discuss the latest developments and opportunities in the field of marine biotechnology.
Over two days, the conference will include specialised presentations by international and regional experts from universities, ministries, and the industrial sector, discussing several key topics, such as fisheries, aquaculture, algae technologies, marine genetics and bioinformatics, marine bio-pollution and its control, and marine natural products.
The conference also seeks to assess the current status of marine biotechnology in the region, enhance scientific cooperation, and support the transformation of scientific discoveries into industrial applications that serve the economies of the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf States.
