SQU Celebrates Cultural Day for International Students

Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) organized an open day for international students entitled "Cultures" at the open area between the College of Arts and Social Sciences and the College of Economics and Political Science. The event was patronized by HH Sayyida Dr. Mona Fahd Al Said, SQU's Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation. This exhibition was organized by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and the International Cooperation Office of SQU.

The open day included an exhibition in which a group of international students from 20 countries participated. Students from Sultan Qaboos College for Teaching the Arabic Language to Non-Native Speakers participated and various artistic performances were presented.

This event aims to provide an opportunity for international students to show their creativity and to communicate with other students in the various colleges of the university and introduce the cultural diversity of their countries and student exchange programs. This event embodied the cultural diversity in the university as the participants in the exhibition presented the history, customs and traditions of their countries and the most prominent cultural and tourist attractions, common food, fashion, and many other aspects.

The theater activities varied of different traditional shows, dances, and songs of different countries such as Iraqi Dabkeh, an Iranian song, a Sri Lankan dance, a Nigerian poem, a documentary film from Morocco, the Vietnamese song, the Palestinian Dabkeh, the Turkish karaoke melody, melodies from Tunisia, the piano melodies from Azerbaijan, and Bangladeshi fashion shows.
