SQU and MDO Cooperate to Drive Research and Innovation

Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the Department of Earth Sciences at the College of Science, and Mineral Development Oman (MDO) have signed a Letter of Cooperation to strengthen collaboration in research, education and capacity building.

The Letter of Cooperation was signed by His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice-Chancellor, and Mattar bin Salim Al-Badi, Chief Executive Officer of MDO.

This partnership reflects the mutual commitment of both institutions to promote scientific research and enhance knowledge exchange between academia and industry. The areas of cooperation include joint research and educational collaborations, internships and exchange opportunities. The two parties will also participate in and co-host lectures, meetings, seminars, symposia, and conferences, while exchanging materials, publications, and other information. In addition, SQU and MDO will cooperate in areas that foster scientific and cultural cooperation and focus on capacity building initiatives that contribute to national development.

Through this collaboration, SQU and MDO aim to create opportunities for students, researchers, and professionals to engage in impactful scientific work that supports the advancement of Oman’s mineral sector and aligns with national priorities in research and innovation.
