A Walk for Health and Harmony

Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the Staff Club, marked the Omani day of Physical Activity, an annual occasion celebrated on 2 October across the Sultanate of Oman. The event was held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice-Chancellor, with the participation of university members and their families.

The celebration aligned with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, aiming to promote health, well-being and quality of life, while reinforcing the culture of sports as a sustainable lifestyle that contributes to raising health awareness among different segments of society.

The activity commenced in front of the Cultural Centre and continued towards the University Tower, passing through spaces and symbolic landmarks on campus, covering a distance between 4 to 5 kilometres. It was marked by a positive sporting and social atmosphere, with active participation from staff and their families.

The event also highlighted the University’s role as a leading academic institution in promoting health awareness and encouraging physical activity, in addition to strengthening bonds across the university community.

The accompanying programme featured a range of activities, including an art exhibition, various sporting events, and a health tent offering blood pressure and glucose level checks.
