The annual student trip for outstanding students of Sultan Qaboos University, both academically and in extracurricular activities, will commence on the 11th of June. In its 26th edition, the trip is organised each year under His Majesty the Sultan’s directives to honour these high-achieving students. Joining them on this journey will also be a number of distinguished international students.
The primary aim of the trip is to enhance students’ skills in communication, teamwork, and relationship-building. It also encourages a sense of responsibility and offers an opportunity to engage with different cultures.
This year, the students will visit the Republic of Türkiye, with the trip running until the 18th of June. The delegation of male students is led by Prof. Majid bin Said Al-Busafi, Director of the Humanities Research Centre. The group comprises 38 students, accompanied by Ibrahim bin Saif Al-Hosni, Acting Director of Human Resources Development Centre, and Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Hashmi, Head of Coordination, Follow-up, and Archiving at the College of Arts and Social Sciences.
The female student delegation also includes 38 students and is headed by Dr. Rayya bint Salim Al-Mandhri, Dean of Student Affairs, joined by Marwa bint Hamad Al-Busaidi, Head of Student Communication and Media at the Deanship of Student Affairs, and Ruqayya bint Hamad Al-Araimi, Acting Deputy Director of the Scientific Publishing and Communication at the Deanship of Research.
Ahead of the journey, the University organised an orientation session in the conference hall to brief students on the itinerary and requirements of the trip. The session also introduced the supervisory team and provided travel guidelines and instructions.
The itinerary includes a visit to Marmara University to gain insights into its academic environment, as well as tours of key cultural and scientific landmarks. The trip also features activities and events aimed at capacity building and skills development.
