SQU Council Approves Master’s Programs in Nursing and Midwifery

On Thursday, 21 November 2019, Sultan Qaboos University Council held its first meeting for the academic year 2019/2020at the University Council Meeting Room, under the chairmanship of HE Dr. Rawya bint Saud Al Busaidi, the Minister of Higher Education, and Chairperson of the University Council. The Council began its meeting by reviewing a report on the University's current and future investments, highlighting its required contribution to strengthening financial resources.

The Council approved the launching of Master’s degree in Nursing and Master of Science degree in Midwifery Nursing programs in the academic year 2020/2021. These programs are expected to expand and develop the knowledge and skills of nurses, which will reflect positively on them in developing their work performance and make their participation more productive.

The Council also adopted the policy of regulating the policies, regulations, and procedures of Sultan Qaboos University, and the proposal to amend some articles of the executive regulation of the law of Sultan Qaboos University as required by the Labor Department.

On the other hand, the Council approved the number of students expected to be admitted to the university for the academic year 2020/2021, which will be 3085 students.

At the end of the meeting, the Board held its annual open meeting with the members of the University Student Advisory Council for the academic year 2019-2020. The Board thanked the members of the previous session of the Advisory Board and urged the new members to proceed with the pace of achievement and excellence.
