SQU Football Championship: Passion, Goals, and Camaraderie

The 11th edition of the Sultan Qaboos University Football Championship for government and private sector employees is currently underway, with 28 teams competing on the football pitch at the Student Sports Complex.

Since the tournament kicked off, the matches have seen commendable performances leading up to the Round of 16. The final match is scheduled to be held at the end of April.

The teams that have secured their place in the next round are: the Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Labour, Oman Tax Authority, State Audit Institution, Sohar International Bank, Bank Muscat, Liva Insurance, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Education, Security and Safety Services, OQ RPI Muscat, Bank Nizwa, ONEIC, Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Transom Handling, and the Office of the Governor of South Al Batinah.

The tournament aims to strengthen ties between SQU and both government and private institutions. It encourages employees to engage in sport for its health and social benefits, while also offering a welcome break from the daily work routine.

The championship is being held in a league format, with each group playing a single round. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
