SQU Organises Arab Moot Court Competition
The 11th edition of the Arab Moot Court Competition has commenced, organised by the College of Law, in collaboration with the Kuwait International Law School, with broad participation from across the Arab world.
This competition serves as a distinguished academic platform aimed at developing students’ legal and research skills, refining their personalities, and fostering a spirit of constructive competition. It also provides an opportunity for the exchange of legal expertise and knowledge under one umbrella.
The preliminary rounds of the competition witnessed the participation of 46 universities and colleges from 15 Arab countries. Nineteen teams have qualified for the in-person rounds, which the university is hosting from 14 to 16 April.
The in-person rounds will feature 95 students representing 19 colleges and universities, with 33 judges from various Arab countries taking part, highlighting the growing regional significance of this competition.
In his opening address, Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Barashdi, Dean of the College of Law, emphasised that the competition seeks to enrich students’ knowledge, shape their legal personalities, and train them in advocacy and legal research skills, in addition to familiarising them with the rules governing moot court competitions.
