National Bioethics Committee Organises Forum on Elderly Care Ethics
Under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al-Najjar, Minister of Social Development, the National Bioethics Committee organised the 12th Intellectual Forum under the theme "Ethics of Elderly Care: The Role of Government Institutions, Community, and Individual Responsibility". The event was held at the Conference Hall and brought together participants from various sectors.
A range of critical topics were discussed, including medical and psychological changes experienced by the elderly, palliative care, and the ethical dilemmas associated with these issues. Participants also examined the services available to older adults across different sectors, along with the legal challenges and concerns surrounding their care.
Panel discussions and workshops featured a distinguished group of academics, experts, and specialists in healthcare, social welfare, and legal affairs. These sessions aimed to highlight the challenges faced by the elderly while promoting social solidarity to ensure a dignified life for them.
Serving as an important platform for dialogue, the forum encouraged discussions on the roles played by government institutions in elderly care. It also emphasised the importance of collaboration between different sectors to enhance the well-being of older individuals.
