Symposium Explores Cutting-edge AI in Healthcare
The Department of Radiology and Molecular Imaging organised a symposium on ‘Cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence: From Concept to Clinical Applications in Healthcare’, chaired by Dr. Yassine Bouchareb, on Thursday, 13 February 2025.
The event commenced with an opening address by Prof. Rashid Al-Abri, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. Renowned international expert Prof. Arman Rahmim from the University of British Columbia, Canada, delivered a series of insightful talks, alongside Dr. Abdelhamid Abdessalem, Dr. Mostefa Mesbah from SQU, and Dr. Zahid Al-Mandhari, Head of the Radiation Oncology Department at the Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre, University Medical City.
Key discussions covered the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning techniques, and the integration of AI in clinical practice. Specific focus areas included AI applications in epilepsy diagnosis, digital twinning of patients, and advancements in radiation oncology.
Participants received attendance certificates and provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, highlighting the symposium’s value. There was strong interest in establishing it as an annual event to foster ongoing discussions and advancements in AI-driven healthcare.
