SQU Hosts AARU Annual Meeting

Sultan Qaboos University hosted the 21st annual meeting of the Association of Arab Universities institutions, attended by distinguished academics, representing the higher education institutions in the Arab world.

His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice Chancellor, met with His Excellency Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, with the attendance of Her Highness Sayyida Dr. Muna bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation. The meeting explored avenues for further cooperation between the University and the Association of Arab Universities.

250129_3In the opening address, Prof. Amer bin Saif Al-Hinai, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Research, welcomed the esteemed guests and emphasised the significance of this gathering in strengthening academic cooperation, exchanging expertise, and shaping future visions. He highlighted that the meeting serves as a strategic platform for coordination and consultation to advance higher education and research across the Arab world.

The University reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the association’s efforts and fostering collaboration among Arab universities to achieve shared objectives. It underscored that integrating academic endeavours is the most effective approach to addressing challenges and building a prosperous future for coming generations.

Participants lauded the importance of the meeting as an opportunity to unify efforts and exchange constructive ideas for the benefit of Arab higher education and research. They stressed the necessity of continuing such gatherings to further enhance academic cooperation among universities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees expressed their gratitude to SQU and the Sultanate of Oman for their generous hospitality and exemplary organisation. They conveyed their hopes for sustained collaboration to achieve greater excellence and leadership in Arab higher education.
