The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering, in collaboration with the International IEOM Society, organised the 2nd GCC International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) from December 1–3, 2024, at the Hormuz Grand Hotel, Muscat. The opening ceremony took place at the SQU Conference Hall under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Mahad Baawain, Minister of Labour.

The conference was chaired by Dr. Nasr Al-Hinai, Head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, and co-chaired by Dr. Hakan Gultekin, alongside Dr. Ahad Ali and Dr. Don Raimer from the IEOM Society. The event provided a platform for academics, researchers, and industry professionals to exchange ideas, discuss innovative trends, and explore advancements in industrial engineering and operations management. More than 180 papers and abstracts were submitted by participants from 27 countries, reflecting the event's diversity and dynamism.
