SQU to Offer PhD in Information Systems

HE Dr. Rawya Saud Al-Busaidi, Minister of Higher Education, and Chairperson of SQU Council chaired the fourth meeting of SQU Council on Thursday, 27 June 2019. The Council adopted the regulations of the University's e-learning system in view of continuous development of the educational process in line with the methodological and technological developments. It is in line with the latest developments in teaching and learning and in view of the added value of e-learning in the development of university education in accordance with the university's strategic plan (2016-2040).

The Council adopted the PhD course in Information Systems offered by the College of Economics and Political Science, which aims to prepare a generation of academics, researchers and leaders who can deal with the data of the age, knowledge and skills. The Council approved the introduction of the MSc course in Operations and Supply Chain Management offered by the College of Economics & Political Science with the aim of supporting the diversification of the national economy by providing the logistics and supply chain sectors with competencies and qualified human resources.

The meeting approved the current and capital budget proposals of the University and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital for the fiscal year 2020. The Council agreed to send a number of academics to complete their doctoral studies in the academic year 2019-2020. The Student Advisory Council made a presentation containing some proposals to the University Council.

At the end of its meeting, the Council reviewed the annual report of the Academic Council for the academic year 2018-2019. It is a comprehensive report on the activities of the Sultan Qaboos University during the previous year that contains information about the University's scientific and research activities, community service and financial performance.
