On Monday, 17 June 2019, Sultan Qaboos University celebrated the laying of the foundation stone for an integrated fuel station project on campus, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Baimani, Vice Chancellor of the University, and the presence of David Kalife, CEO of Oman Oil Marketing Company.

The plant is the first integrated service MEGA service station in the Sultanate. The MEGA service station will have an area of 10000 square meter. Oman Oil Marketing Company is working on the project in two stages: the completion of the fuel station with the accompanying services such as laundry, maintenance of tires and oils, and the mosque. The project is expected to be completed during the second half of this year. In the second phase, a gymnasium and a hall for cultural activities will be built as part of community service initiative. The second phase is expected to be completed in the next year.

Mohammed Al-Balushi, Director of Investment and Revenues Department at the University, said that the contract with Oman Oil Marketing Company is for 20 years. The company would develop the site and provide all fuel filling station services. The site of this station qualifies it to serve the community outside the university. The contract covers support in student training, activities and research in the fields of specialization of Oman Oil Marketing Company. The employees and students of the university would receive discounts on the services provided through this project.
