The joint committee between Sultan Qaboos University, the Ministry of Information and Public Authority for Radio and Television held its first meeting for the year 2019 at SQU Council Hall on Tuesday, 14 May 2019. The meeting was attended by HE Dr. Ali Bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice Chancellor of SQU, HE Ali bin Khalfan Al Jabri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, and HE Nasser bin Sulaiman Al Seibani, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Radio and Television, and other officials from the three parties.

The committee discussed several topics on the agenda of the meeting, which included reviewing the follow-up report on the implementation of the recommendations of the previous meetings of the joint committee. The committee discussed the possibility of adopting graduation projects in the media (press and electronic publishing, radio and television).

The committee discussed about launching a diploma program in media studies for the employees of the Ministry of Information and the conditions of admission. The proposal for training programs that could be provided by the Information Section of the Media Training Center was also discussed.

It is worth noting that the formation of this joint committee is aimed at facilitating, enhancing and developing cooperation, sharing experiences and information, and uniting efforts of mutual interest between Sultan Qaboos University, the Ministry of Information and the Public Authority for Radio and Television.
